in recent years, there is very little paperwork of the variant in and determinants of business devastation preparedness. The few research that have been done have dedicated to specific businesses or professional sectors, including the chemical or tourist market, or have recently been plagued by too little cases. These problems clearly limit the generalizability from the research results. This daily news attempts to fill a void inside the literature by simply exploring the determinants and variety of planning inside the private sector utilizing two stratified arbitrary samples of businesses from

Memphis/Shelby County, Tennessee (N=737), and Des Moines/Polk County, Iowa (N=1079). Results show that business size, whether the business property can be owned or leased, and prior tragedy experience are generally related to business disaster readiness in the two study areas. Type of organization was linked to preparedness amongst businesses in Mernphis/Shelby Region. Policy ramifications of the findings are discussed.
